WHO Collaborating Centre area

In 2008 the Emilia-Romagna Regional Health System - Centre for the evaluation of effectiveness of health care (CeVEAS) in Modena (Italy), has been designated WHO Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) for Evidence based research synthesis and guideline development in reproductive health.
CeVEAS will contribute to WHO activities by producing and disseminating the best available evidence on effective intervention to increase and protect women health, with particular focus on women in reproductive age, and by supporting drugs evaluations for WHO Essential medicines list (EML).
SaPeRiDoc (Documentation centre on perinatal and reproductive health) has been developed and managed by the CeVEAS perinatal and reproductive area and it is greatly involved in the WHOCC activities.

The new WHOCC will focus on:

  • the collection and synthesis of the best evidence from scientific literature for the development of guidelines;
  • the development of models to facilitate the implementation of the guidelines in clinical practice, taking in consideration the different local settings;
  • developing tools for sharing evidence based knowledge with health professionals and women and communities;
  • supporting the drugs evaluations for WHO EML, including specific drugs of interest in reproductive health.
